According to the Miami Herald, the Rockets used a fifth-year student-athlete in all nine of their games this season.
After losing its opener to No. 14 Lakeland, Miami Central reeled off eight straight wins. With an 0-9 record, the Rockets will not make the Class 3A playoffs that start in two weeks.
The Rockets own nine Florida high school football state championships, including a run of four in a row from 2019 through 2022.
As a result of the forfeits, Miami Central will lose its position in our national rankings. Four of their wins were over ranked opponents — No. 27 American Heritage (Plantation), No. 36 Norland, No. 60 Northwestern (Miami) and No. 197 Booker T. Washington (Miami).
This marks the second time in the past week that a nationally-ranked team has been sanctioned with forfeits. Norland had to give up its win over American Heritage and No. 57 The First Academy had to forfeit all eight of its wins.
We will update the HSFA 300 on Tuesday.
