Crimson Cliffs did something Thursday that no other Utah high school football team ever did in a state championship game. The Mustangs trailed Spanish Fork by 21 points with just over nine minutes to play in the game. The 2023 4A champs then scored 21 unanswered points to tie the game at 42-42 and force the game into overtime.

When the smoke cleared after three overtimes, Crimson Cliffs owned another state title with a 57-55 win.

The comeback was the biggest ever in Utah high school football championship history. The 112 combined points is also a state championship record.

Crimson Cliffs quarterback Ryder Sherratt tossed a record-tying six touchdowns in the win.
