De Smet won its third overall Missouri high school football state championship Friday at Faurot Field at the University of Missouri. The Spartans, No. 197 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 226 Nixa 35-20 for the Class 6 title.

The game was tied at 14-all at the half, but De Smet scored the first 14 points on the second half to take a lead it would never give up.
