For the first time in school history, Toombs County is a Georgia high school football champ. Tuesday, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, the Bulldogs beat Macon’s Northeast High School 38-18 for the Class A Division I state championship.
Mike Polke had a big game for Toombs County with a touchdown receiving and a 92-yard kickoff return for a TD. Polke caught five passes for 103 yards, plus he had an interception from the defensive side.
Georgia State-signee T.J. Stanley, a Georgia State connected on 14 of 23 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 16 times for 83 yards.
