Today’s Rewind Wednesday feature focuses on the Missouri Tigers‘ top quarterbacks — Maty Mauk and Drew Lock, both of whom appeared on our radio show during their high school days, and are at the center of news out of Columbia.
Earlier this week, the University of Missouri announced it had suspended quarterback Maty Mauk for violating team rules. All indications are that Mauk will be replaced by Lock, who is a true freshman.
During his high school days at Kenton High School in Ohio, Mauk, whose father Mike was his head coach, rewrote the national passing record book. Mauk set national high school career records for passing completions (1,353), passing attempts (2,110), passing yards (18,932), total yards (22,681), and passing touchdowns (219). The records for completions, attempts, passing yards, and total yards were previously held by his older brother Ben.
Lock, who was also an excellent basketball player at Lee’s Summit High School in Missouri, threw 63 touchdowns during his junior and senior seasons with just 12 interceptions.
