This week’s The Other 25 features plenty of changes and newcomers as we head into the final three weeks of the 2015 high school football season.
Eastside Catholic (Washington) is in the on-deck circle for the National Top 25. The Crusaders move-up four spots this week to #26 this week. They will go after their second straight Washington 3A title when they face Bellevue next week. Last year, the Crusaders beat Bellevue in the state final, snapping the Wolverines run of six straight state titles and 67 straight wins. It’s the fourth straight year that these two Washington powerhouses have met in the championship game.
The biggest mover this week is Miami Central (Florida), which as rebounded from its two early season losses that knocked the Rockets from their preseason #4 ranking. After beating former #25 Mainland (Florida), the Rockets move-up 15 spots from #47 to #32. Central, which is looking for a record fourth straight Florida state title, will face Naples in the 6A semfinals this week.
Eight new teams enter the Top 50 this week — Mallard Creek (North Carolina) at #42, Flanagan (Florida) at #43, Folsom (California) at #44, Pittsburgh Central Catholic (Pennsylvania) at #45, King (Detroit, Michigan) at #46, Glenbard West (Illinois) at #47, Blue Springs South (Missouri) at #48 and Brentwood Academy (Tennessee) at #49.
Mallard Creek and Pittsburgh Central Catholic were ranked in our preseason Top 25, while King, Glenbard West and Blue Springs all won state championships this past weekend.
