After seven seasons as the head coach at Midland Lee, James Morton is leaving to become head coach and athletic director at Eastland, which is his alma mater.

This past season, the Rebels finished 4-7, giving Morton a career mark of 38-35 at Lee.  Morton led Lee to the postseason in 2009 and 2013.

Prior to arriving at Midland Lee, Morton was the head coach at Lubbock Monterey for 11 seasons.  He was also the head coach at Friona.

Eastland, a 3A program, has made the playoffs for eight straight seasons with 10 wins or more in the past five seasons.
