Friday night’s match-up between Mater Dei and Edison will mark the last time that legendary high school football coaches Bruce Rollinson (Mater Dei) and Dave White (Edison) will match wits.  Earlier this year, White, who has spent 31 years as the Chargers’ head coach, announced that he would be retiring at the end of this season.

Both teams enter the game 4-0 and ranked in the High School Football America Southern California Top 25 — Mater Dei is ranked #1, while Edison is #12.

Friday’s game at Orange Coast College will be the 18th match-up between the two.  Mater Dei, which is ranked #3 in the latest High School Football America National Top 25, leads the series 12-5 with the last Edison win coming in 2009 in double overtime.

Rollinson and White have won 485 games between them.  Rollinson’s lifetime record stands at 263-82-2, while White’s is 222-113-3.

Earlier this week, I talked with Rollinson about his last match-up against White and also asked him if he and White are part of a dying breed?…head coaches who coach for three decades.  You can watch his answer below.

Below is a look at the scores from the last four match-ups between Mater Dei and Edison.
