It was a rainy day in Lubbock Thursday. Some thunderstorms and lots of precipitation. It was also nice and cool. For me, this is perfect weather. I could just do without the rain.
Because of the rain, we were forced to workout in our indoor facility. It wasn’t a big deal. We got our work done and accomplished all we needed, so it was business as usual for us.
We wrapped up practice and went on to our spaghetti dinner. That was it. Just another day for us.
We talked all week long about attitude, effort and a positive mindset. The kids had a great week. They really showed some resiliency. It was fun to watch.
Today, we need play makers to make plays. That’s how you win games. There are no excuses. Show-up and make plays. Execute what you have been taught. Play hard. It’s a simple process to achieve success.
There is no pressure. There never is. Just go be you, Westerners. Let it fly and have some fun. We control we.
Today, we FIO.

Today, I’m bringing in a hired gun. Well, I didn’t really hire him but it’s the equivalent of bringing in a hired gun. This is a heavy-hitter coming in to speak with the Westerners.
I can’t wait to share this in a future blog. Today is really special to me. It goes to show the kind of great relationships you build in football. It will also prove to people that you can step outside the box and bring in positive messages from the unexpected, maybe even the unheard of.
Today at 12:15 we are doing something really cool, and pardon my juvenile language over this. I’m just pumped about it!
Will fill you in later.
