Clemson-bound Hunter Johnson is the 2016 IndyStar Mr. Football. The Brownsburg quarterback received 24 first-place votes Johnson from the Indiana Football Coaches Association ratings board. Center Grove running back/receiver Russ Yeast was the runner-up with 11 votes and Indianapolis Cathedral linebacker Pete Werner finished third with seven votes.
Johnson, who was a four-year starter for Brownsburg, threw for 2,233 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior and rushed for 525 yards and three TDs. Johnson finished his career with 6,657 passing yards and 69 touchdown passes, both are school records.
