The year may not have started the way that Hoover wanted it to, but tonight the Bucs are right where they expected to be when the season began in August…in Alabama’s first-ever 7A state championship game.
Hoover (11-2) will face Prattville (11-2) at 7 PM Central Time at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. Hoover, which will be looking for its third straight state title after winning the last two 6A titles, began the year ranked #2 in the High School Football America Preseason Top 25, but fell-out of the national rankings after loses to Miami Central (Florida) and Colquitt County (Georgia) to start the year. Hoover has won ten overall titles, while Prattville owns five state crowns, with the last coming in 2011.
These two are no strangers to battling for Alabama’s biggest classification crown. It will be the sixth time that the Bucs and Lions have met for gold with Prattville holding a 3-2 edge. Since 2000, the two schools have won 12 of the 14 Class 6A titles with Hoover winning four straight from 2002 through 2005 and Prattville winning three from 2006 through 2008.
