Bingham begins the season No. 1 in Utah’s new 6A classification, according to the Deseret News’ coaches preseason rankings. The defending 5A champs picked-up ten first place votes and 62 points, which was 20 more than second place and defending 4A champs East. Lone Peak is No. 3 with 40 overall points.
East, which finished No. 44 in the final 2016 High School Football America National Top 50, got a special exemption to play in 6A instead of 5A.
Bingham and East will square-off August 25th.
Timpview is No. 1 in 5A, defending 3AA champ Desert Hills is No. 1 in 4A, two-time defending state champ Juan Diego is No. 1 in 3A, two-time defending state champ Beaver is No. 1 in 2A and defending champ Duchesne is the top dog in 1A.
