The game that everyone has been waiting for since last December will be played this Friday when No. 1 Mater Dei takes No. 2 St. John Bosco in what may the first of two match-ups between the two this year. Last year, Mater Dei beat Bosco during the regular season to snap the Braves run of four straight Trinity League titles. Bosco then beat the Monarchs in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship game.
Both teams are currently ranked in the High School Football America Top 100 national rankings — Mater Dei No. 1 and St. John Bosco at No. 15

The other two Trinity League match-ups this week are inner-Top 25 games — No. 8 JSerra plays No. 13 Orange Lutheran and No. 14 Servite plays No. 16 Santa Margarita.
No. 3 Corona Centennial will also have a Top 25 match-up against cross-town rival Corona Santiago, ranked No. 23 in the new rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm.
The biggest mover in the new rankings is Upland, which climbs from No. 17 to No. 9 after its 30-23 win over former No. 8 Rancho Cucamonga. The Cougars fall to No. 11.
There’s one newcomer this week — La Habra enters the rankings at No. 25. The Highlanders only losses have been to Upland and No. 4 Mission Viejo.
