WREX-TV reports that the Illinois High School Association has voted against a proposal that would have overhauled the state’s football scheduling system.
The station reports that the proposal would have eliminated football conferences in favor of a regional district system that would group schools by size and location. Member schools shot-down the proposal by a vote of 395-212.
Opponents didn’t like the fact that the new system would have eliminated rivalry games and restricted schools from scheduling their own games.
