I write a version of this story every year, which highlights what I believe is one of high school football’s best traditions — Turkey Day football.  These Thanksgiving Day rivalry games, usually in the northeast, drip with tradition that usually reaches back some one hundred years.

Long-time readers of my Turkey Day stories know that there’s only one game in my book — the Easton-Phillipsburg game at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, my hometown.  The Battle for the Forks of the Delaware Trophy is being played for the 111th time this morning.  The only thing that separate these two communities is the Delaware River with Easton on the Pennsylvania side and Phillipsburg (also called P’burg) on the Jersey side.

Phillipsburg enters the game undefeated and ranked No. 9 in the High School Football America New Jersey Top 10.  Next week, the Stateliners will play North Hunterdon for the New Jersey North 2 Group 4 sectional championship.  New Jersey doesn’t crown a “true” state champ.

Easton, riding a two game win streak in the series, brings 7-5 record into the game and hopes of spoiling P’burg’s hope for a perfect season.

Easton leads the all-time series 63-42-5.

Through-out the day, we’ll highlight the results from all of the big Turkey Day games.

Happy Thanksgiving!
