Blessed Trinity, ranked No. 94 in the latest High School Football America Top 100 national rankings, will climb higher when the new rankings are released on Sunday. The Titans captured their first-ever high school football championship Friday night by beating No. 90 Marist 16-7 at Marist’s Hughes Spaulding Stadium for the Class AAAA state championship. The victory avenged BT’s regular season 25-24 loss in Region 7-AAAA play.

Blessed Trinity’s (13-2) defense was outstanding, holding Marist (14-1) to 50 yards on the ground. The War Eagles entered the game averaging over 228 yards per game this season. Marist was held to 184 yards total offense in a game that was played-on campus after snow forced the cancellation of all but two of last weekend’s scheduled championship games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The win also gave Blessed Trinity head coach Tim McFarlin his second overall state title. He’s the 15th coach in Georgia history to win state championships at two different schools. McFarlin won the title has the HC at Roswell in 2006.
