The Maryland House of Delegates Ways and Means Committee rejected a bill that would have prohibited tackle football before high school. Nineteen committee members voted on Monday to reject the bill that was called by its sponsor a “public health” bill. Three members of the committee abstained from the vote.
In Illinois last week, a house legislature committee approved a bill that would ban tackle football for kids until 12 years old. The bill now goes to the Illinois House of Representatives for its vote.
