LaPorte is hoping the community will help the team purchase its Class 5A state runner-up championship rings.

On Wednesday, the team held a fundraiser at the local Buffalo Wild Wings with a portion of the night’s sales going to the team.

LaPorte lost to Indianapolis Cathedral, which captured its fifth straight Indiana state football championship.  The Slicers trip to the Lucas Oil Stadium came on the heels of back-to-back 1-9 seasons in 2012 and 2013.
