When the clock strikes midnight in North Carolina, high school football teams can begin practicing for the start of the 2018 high school football season. According to HighSchoolOT.com, several teams — Bunn, Laney andLeesville Road — will hold midnight madness workouts.

The Tar Heel State features two teams — Mallard Creek at No. 44 and Harding University High School at No. 89 — in the High School Football America Preseason 100. Charlotte Catholic is ranked in our On the Bubble category at No. 113. Two-time defending 4AA champ Wake Forest and Charlotte Christian received honorable mention in our preseason national rankings.
The season will open with two awesome games that will set the tone for the state’s top teams. On August 17, Charlotte Catholic will square-off with North Carolina Division I private school champ Charlotte Christian. The following night, Mallard Creek will take-on two-time South Carolina champ Dutch Fork, ranked No. 25 in our national rankings.
