Paramus Catholic High School logoThere’s a change at the top of the Paramus Catholic High School football program.

Chris Partridge, who led the program for the last five years, surprised everyone Sunday night when he announced his departure at the team’s football banquet.  At the same time, Partridge introduced the team to its new head coach – Blake Costanzo, a former NFL linebacker, who played with the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears.

Costanzo has been a volunteer assistant with Partridge. The two played college football together Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Partridge told NJ.com that he’s leaving the high school rankings to pursue a coaching position at the collegiate level.

In five years, the Paramus alum built-up the Paladins’ program to the same level as Big North – United foes Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco Prep and St. Joseph Regional.  Partridge led PC to three straight New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 championship games, winning titles in 2012 and 2013.  Last season, Paramus Catholic climbed as high as #4 in High School Football America’s Top 25, before losing to St. Peter’s Prep in the Group 4 championship game.

Partridge finished 39-17 in his five years as PC’s head coach.

Below you can listen to a mid-October interview I did with Partridge on High School Football America’s radio show.
