After its impressive win over nationally-ranked Phillips Academy (Illinois) on national television Sunday, defending Division I state champ Pickerington Central starts 2018 as the No. 1 team in the High School Football America Ohio Top 25. The win over Illinois’ defending 5A champ also moved the Tigers from No. 11 to No. 10 in our HSFA 100.
No. 3 Mentor will try to improve its national and state rankings when it plays St. Ignatius on Saturday. After beating No. 4 St. Edward last week, the Cardinals moved up ten spots from No. 37 to No. 27 in the High School Football America 100. St. Ignatius will enter the game ranked No. 86 nationally and No. 8 in the Ohio Top 25 after its 21-14 loss to No. 2 Archbishop Hoban, which broken into the national Top 25 at No. 25.
St. Ed will try to get into the win column when it plays a big interstate game against Cass Tech, the No. 1 team in Michigan. The Eagles are ranked No. 38 in the national rankings, while CT is No. 50.
