I got my first up-close-and-personal look at Alabama high school football Friday night. I got a chance to watch a very talented Central (Phenix City) squad that entered the game against Jeff Davis ranked No. 43 in the High School Football America 100.

Jeff Davis gave the Red Devils all they could handle in the first half of Senior Night at Garrett-Harrison Stadium. After falling behind 14-0 early in the second quarter, the Jeff Davis defense made it a one score game (14-6) at halftime on a scoop-and-score.

Before the game, Clemson-recruit EJ Williams received his Under Amour All-America Game jersey. Williams caught two touchdown passes, including the first one to give the Red Devils a lead they would never lose.
