The coach that created one of the most prolific offenses in Texas high school football history is now the head coach of the team that he helped make an offensive juggernaut.
On Monday, DeSoto promoted Todd Peterman from offensive coordinator to head coach. Peterman replaces Claude Mathis, who left DeSoto to become an assistant coach at SMU. In 2009, Peterman led the DeSoto offense that broke the Texas 5A record for average yards per game with 551 per contest.
