Aledo now sits alone as the top 11-man football program in Texas high school football history.
Saturday, the Bearcats, No. 46 in the latest High School Football America 100 national rankings, beat No. 66 Fort Bend Marshall 45-42 to capture the Class 5A Division II state title, the school’s ninth overall state championship, which breaks a four-way tie with Celina, Katy and Southlake Carroll, who won eight titles each. Earlier this week, Richland Springs won its ninth 6-man state title. It was the second straight year that Aledo has been the Buffalos for the state title.
Aledo used a balanced attack with running back Jase McClellan and quarterback Jake Bishop putting-up solid numbers. Bishop passed for 244 yards with three scores, plus he added 42 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

McClellan, who earlier this week signed his Letter of Intent with the University of Alabama, battled a leg injury, but put up to 218 yards on the ground with two scores.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Aledo held a 42-27 lead, but Marshall battled back to 45-42, but an onside kick with under a minute to go failed.
