For the second time in three years, Owasso is a high school football champ in Oklahoma’s largest classification.
After a scoreless first half and falling behind Jenks 6-0 in the third quarter, Owasso won the Class 6A-I state title with a 14-6 win over the Trojans. Jenks had emotion on its side after losing its legendary head coach Allan Trimble over the holidays after his battle with ALS. Trimble guided Jenks to 13 Oklahoma high school football state championships.
Cole Dugger, who completed 24-of-34 passes for 246 yards, gave the Rams a 7-6 lead with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Kelan Carney. Emaud Triplett’s 2-yard TD run with about two-and-a-half minutes to go sealed the victory.
Owasso, which entered the game ranked No. 43 in the latest High School Football America 100 national rankings, finishes a perfect 13-0, giving the Rams their first-ever perfect season in high school football.
