Last week I called Texas the Land of Running Backs…today I call Louisiana the Land of Wide Receivers. Five of the top twenty-five receivers in the 247Sports.com composite rankings hail from the Bayou State.
Brian Thomas, Jr. of Walker High is ranked as the No. 2 overall college football wide receiver prospect. On Monday, Thomas talked about his final four schools — Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M.
Thomas didn’t play football until his sophomore season.

The other top-ranked Louisiana receivers are: Chris Hilton of Zachary at No. 5, Keon Coleman of Opelousas Catholic at No. 14, Destyn Pazon of Edna Karr at No. 18 and Malik Nabers of Comeaux at No. 20.
The No. 1 college football recruit at the position is Emeka Egbuka at Seilacoom High in Washington. Egbuka, who has been starting since his freshman season, had an outstanding junior season with 65 catches for nearly 1,500, averaging 22-yards per catch with 22 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he caught 72 balls with 23 TDs.

Neither Egbuka or Thomas have given their verbal commitments, but No. 3 Troy Franklin of Menlo-Atherton in California has said yes to Oregon.
The No. 4 prospect is Jayden Ballard of Massillon Washington High in Ohio, who has committed to Ohio State.
