It’s official, Alabama high school football opens July 27

As we told you Wednesday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association will allow the start of the 2020 high school football season on-time beginning Monday, July 27. Alabama will be the first state during the coronavirus pandemic to hit the practice fields after announcing the season will start as scheduled.

Monday will mark the start of the state’s acclimation period, which is the first step toward opening the regular season on-schedule on August 20. Things will kick-off with the acclimation period with players helmets and shoulder pads. Full pad practices start August 5.

The first games will be played August 20 and 21.
