Coach Strunk and Lubbock ISD gave me the privilege of representing Lubbock High School at the annual Texas High School Football Coaches Association’s Leadership Summit last week. It was an experience that I was truly grateful to have. The THSCA did an incredible job of organizing and executing the event. We are very lucky in the state of Texas to have a coach’s organization that cares so much about coaches and student athletes. Their hospitality was first class and so was the event.
We spent the entire day listening to many powerful speakers — from astronauts and professional athletes, to sports psychologists and NFL referees. All the speakers said something that will stay with me for the remainder of my life. It was great to take a day to be reminded why we do what we do as coaches and educators. The summit impacted me in a way that will set my life on a new trajectory — TO SERVE OTHERS!
I want to give a special shout out to Mike Meeks, the assistant Athletic Director of Lubbock ISD. Without Mike, us LISD coaches would have been lost. He led the way from beginning to end, and we were all very thankful for his leadership! Thanks Mike!
