No. 5 Lone Peak flexed its defensive muscles in its season opener with a 24-0 shutout of No. 7 Timpview Friday night. It was the only head-to-head matchup in the High School Football America Utah Top 10 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.

Siale Tahi ran for three scores in the victory.

Top-ranked Corner Canyon opened with a 49-20 win over Farmington. The two-time defending state champs were led by quarterback Jaxson Dart, who threw three touchdown passes and also ran for two scores.

No. 3 American Fork opened with a 55-0 shutout of Lehi with QB Maddux Madsen tossing five TD’s.

Three-time defending state champ Orem rolled to a 51-14 victory over Mountain View. Micah Fe’A led the No. 4 Tigers with four touchdown passes.

No. 6 East blew-out West Jordan 42-19 Amini Amone scored two TD’s in the victory.

No. 8 Pleasant Grove rolled by Riverton 35-7.

No. 9 Skyridge ran-out to a 26-0 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 33-13 win over Alta.

The only Top 10 team to lose was No. 10 Olympus, which was shocked 27-17 by Mountain Ridge, which won its first-ever varsity high school football game. Last year, Mountain Ridge was 0-11.
