There will be a new No. 1 this week in the High School Football America Indiana Top 10.
No. 6 Cathedral rolled past top-ranked Carmel 44-28 Friday night. Cathedral senior QB Nathan McCahill tossed three touchdowns and 374 yards in the victory over the defending 6A state champs. McCahill has eight TD passes in the first two games.
Center Grove made its case for being the new No. 1 with a solid 20-0 shutout of No. 7 Warren Central. The Trojans’ defense was outstanding, holding WC to just three first downs and 53 yards in total offense.
Two-time defending state champ New Palestine opened its season after missing last week’s game due to a COVID-19 quarantine. The No. 4 Dragons picked-up a 28-8 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.
New Palestine has now won 29 straight and owns a 64 game regular season win streak, which is the second longest all-time in the Hoosier State.
No. 5 North Central needed a two-point conversion in overtime to nip Hamilton Southeastern 36-35.
