Oxford heads to the postseason as the No. 1 team in the High School Football America Mississippi Top 10. The Chargers closed-out the regular season a perfect 9-0 with a 25-14 win over Tupelo.
In the opening round of the 6A playoffs next week, Oxford will play No. 6 Madison Central.
No. 9 Clinton shocked former No. 3 Starkville 35-7, which shakes-up the rankings from No. 3 on down and also ends the Yellowjackets’ season. Starkville began the season ranked in the High School Football America 100 and the favorite to win Mississippi’s 6A state championship.
Clinton moves-up five spots to No. 4. Starkville, which had been ranked No. 124 in the High School Football America national rankings, falls to No. 9 in the statewide rankings.
