The 2020 Michigan high school football playoffs are on hold. Sunday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Witmer issued new 3-week coronavirus restrictions that includes the the stopping of high school sports.
The high school football playoffs were headed to regional championship games this weekend, meaning there are only three weekends of football left in a season that has been up-and-down for Michigan teams. At first, state officials announced that high school football would be played in the Spring. That decision was changed in September and teams began a six-game regular season on September 18.

Michigan High School Athletic Association Executive Director Mark Uyl believes that the shutout doesn’t mean that there won’t be football championships this year.
Uyl stated the following on the MHSAA website, “We understand the need for action, and we will explore all options to complete our Fall tournaments when restrictions are lifted. We will assess everything over the next three weeks relative to Fall and Winter sports and come up with a plan that keeps us connected to our goal, for months, of having three seasons that are played to their conclusions.”
