On the Road Again – working while driving in Stanley, New Mexico.

It’s Sunday, November 2nd — Day 5 on the road.

High School Football America’s Sea to Shining Sea Tour is a lot of things, but most importantly, it’s about Trisha Hoffman and me checking-out the vastness and variety that this country has to offer.

When Trisha came-up with the name High School Football America in 2009, I thought it was genius! I also thought there would be no way that highschoolfootballamerica.com would be available. Obviously, I was wrong and that’s why I need to listen to her more than I sometimes do. I’m not saying I don’t, I’m just saying that all us guys need women that love us.

For those of you that don’t know, High School Football America began in a much different form. In fact, the original name was going to be just High School Football. And, believe it or not, we were able to purchase hsfb.com.

Great URL…right?

Sure was — and is, but a guy in Chicago, who we contracted to build our first website with the hsfb.com URL that I created, was dishonest. I’m not going to write anything more than that, but let’s just say I believe in karma.

Trisha came-up with the name High School Football America when we were changing from the name The High School Football Huddle. While I liked it, Trisha knew there was a better brand/identity ahead for us.

That gets us to 10:05 A.M. Mountain Time in Stanley, New Mexico.

The beauty of New Mexico out the window of our Cadillac CTS.

Where is Stanley? Not sure, because it doesn’t show-up on our GPS as a town, other than it says US-285, Stanley, NM.   Wait… just figured it out…we are just north of Interstate 40, which we will be taking for a bit as we head southeast from two days in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Lubbock, Texas to stay with our good friend The Strunks. As most of our readers know, Jason Strunk is the head coach of Lubbock High School and he writes The Turnaround for us. Strunky and his wife Tracey are great people and we’re looking forward to our stay in west Texas on the way to Charleston, South Carolina.

BTW…Trish is driving, so don’t worry, I’m not breaking any laws.

She just said, there goes a tumble weed. Cool!

The beauty that we’ve seen so far is incredible! Yes, the Grand Canyon speaks for itself, but even the starkness we have witnessed along Interstate 40 in California, Arizona and New Mexico, can only be described as incredible.

So as I finish this little history lesson about HSFA’s origins, it needs to be said that as we journey across this great country in a truly American-made car – Cadillac CTS – I’m thankful for Trish’s foresight and creativity that gave birth to this idea of traveling across America, checking-out its beauty and high school football that go hand-in-hand together.
