It took longer than expected, but Kennedy Catholic’s Sam Huard is now Washington’s all-time leading passer. Friday night, Huard closed-out his scholastic career by passing Brett Rypien as the state’s all-time leader in passing yardage.
Huard, the son of former NFL quarterback Damon Huard, completed 40-of-56 passes for 514 yards, giving him 13,226 yards for his career. The future Washington Huskies QB needed 333 yards to pass Rypien, who is currently playing with the Denver Broncos.
Many were surprised when Huard announced he wouldn’t enter UW as an early enrollee after the fall season was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The final tally for Huard is 847 completions in 1,356 attempts. The eight touchdown passes on Friday gives him 153 career touchdowns in just 35 games.
