Below is a how Coach Rone is described in a news release from the Bears:
Rone, who was hired as the head coach in January 2018 and is also a Special Education teacher, helped lead the Astros to a 42-8 victory over Harold L. Richards High School (1-1) for the first time in nearly 30 years. The team’s ability to overcome their 41-7 loss to Lemont the week before makes their win at the Bulldogs’ even more impressive. Under Rone’s leadership, the team was able to stay focused and not let one loss impact the future of their season. Prior to joining Shepard, Rone taught and coached at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School for nine years; he is a graduate of Simeon High School in Chicago, played college football at Lakeland College and Austin Peay State University and earned a master’s degree from Chicago State University.
