J.T. Tuimoloau of Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Washington) is the 2020-21 Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year. The Award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior high school football player of Polynesian Ancestry.
Tuimoloau, who is of of Samoan Ancestry, is a 5-star defensive end, ranked as the No. 3 overall college football prospect in the 247Sports.com composite rankings. During his junior year, he led EC in tackles (64) and sacks (11).
So far, Tuimoloau hasn’t made his college football decision. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, he wasn’t able to make any official visits. That’s supposed to happen next month.
Tuimoloau’s top five schools are Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Washington. Ohio State is considered the favorite to land the 5-star player.
Current San Francisco 49ers Safety Talanoa Hufanga was selected as the inaugural recipient of the Award in 2017. BYU WR Puka Nacua & University of Alabama QB Taulia Tagovailoa were selected as co-players of the year in 2018. And Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei received the Award in 2019.
