2020 High School Football America Coach of the Year Patrick Surtain, Sr. is heading back to the National Football League.
Surtain is returning to the team he played for during a portion of his 11-year NFL career, the Miami Dolphins. The former cornerback will coach the Dolphins’ defensive backs.

After taking-over the American Heritage program in 2016, Surtain led the Patriots to three Florida high school football championships. Surtain also won a state title when he was the team’s defensive coordinator.
This past season, Surtain, while playing one of the toughest high school football schedules in America, led the team to a 6-4 record and a No. 61 ranking in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Surtain’s overall record was 65-10 with the Patriots.

Surtain played 11 years in the NFL after being selected in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
Currently, Surtain’s son, Patrick II, is playing with the NFL’s Denver Broncos.
