It’s time for the 2021 Regional Football Championship Bowl Games that will set next week’s state championship matchups.

The state’s biggest game, the Open Division championship, is already set. Top-ranked Mater Dei, punched its ticket to the title game by beating No. 2 Servite for the second time this year. The Monarchs will play San Mateo’s Serra High School in two weeks at Saddleback College.

Serra moves up one spot to No. 8 after surprising former No. 5 St. Francis (Mountain View) for the Central Coast Section Division I. St. Francis drops to No. 6 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

In the south Division 1-AA championship, No. 7 Orange Lutheran will square-off with No. 11 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego).

All four teams in the Division 1-A games are ranked in the Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football.

In the south, No. 21 Serra (Gardena) will play No. 22 Long Beach Poly. That game will be a rematch of the season-opener between the two. Serra won that game 28-27. In the north, No. 23 Liberty (Bakersfield) plays No. 25 Pittsburg.
