This weekend featured seven big head-to-head matchups inside the High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football. Two of those marquee matchups were at the Freedom Bowl at Milton High School in suburban Atlanta.
In the opener of the doubleheader, No. 3 Buford (Georgia) beat No. 17 Thompson (Alabama) in a battle of three-time defending state champs.

In the nightcap, No. 29 Lipscomb Academy (Tennessee) topped host Milton 17-7. LA is coached by former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer. His senior quarterback Hank Brown, who has verbally committed to Liberty, went 20-of-28 with 223 yards and two touchdowns.
In South Carolina, 5A champ Gaffney battled 4A champ South Pointe. No. 85 South Pointe raced-out to a 23-0 lead on the way to a 47-26 win over the No. 48 Indians.
In North Carolina, No. 46 Cardinal Gibbons and No. 56 Chambers battled in a rematch of the 2021 4A championship game won by CG. Chambers go revenge Saturday night with a 28-14 victory.
In Las Vegas, No. 13 Bishop Gorman took-down No. 92 Corner Canyon 42-7.
Phenix City, Alabama’s Central High School, ranked No. 36 in the preseason rankings, beat No. 81 Hewitt-Trussville 37-21. Central QB Jaylen Epps completed 17-for-28 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 102 yards on 10 carries.
On defense, Tomarrion Parker had a big game for the Red Devils with 3.5 sacks.
At the Corky Kell Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, No. 37 Mill Creek edged No. 78 Walton 44-41 in a game that featured eight lead changes.
Hayden Clark’s 21-yard TD pass to Makhail Wood with :21 seconds to play was the game-winner.

Defending High School Football America Mater Dei opens 2022 with a shutout win over West High School from Salt Lake City, Utah. The 42-0 win featured junior quarterback Elijah Brown completing 20-of-26 passes for 285 yards with five touchdowns.
