The 2022 Vermont high school football season begins with Rutland starting No. 1 in the High School Football America Vermont Top 5 rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Raiders open the season against defending Division I champ Essex, which starts the season just outside of the Top 5.
Champlain Valley begins the season No. 2, followed by St. Johnsbury Academy at No. 3, Hartford at No. 4 and defending Division II champ Bellows Falls at No. 5.
