Keith Rawlings, varsity head football coach of the Edgewood Rams (Edgewood, MD), has been named the Ravens High School Coach of the Week. Now in its 26th year of existence, Rawlings is the fourth recipient of the award in 2022. Rawlings previously earned Coach of the Week honors in 2014 while at The John Carroll School.

Last Friday (9/23), the Rams upended perennial Harford County powerhouse, Harford Tech (34-0), to push their record to 4-0 on the season. The shutout victory was Edgewood’s third of the year, as they were paced by junior QB Caesar Travers and his three touchdowns.

Taking a 20-0 lead into the second half, the Rams extended their advantage with two scores in each of the final two frames – a 21-yard touchdown pass from Travers to junior WR Jahmir Torres and a rushing touchdown from senior RB Isaiah Megginson from 23 yards out.

Rawlings, an Edgewood alum, is in his second season leading the Rams.

“We have some really explosive players on the offensive side of the ball,” Rawlings stated. “We are very deep in talent, so we are able to spread the ball around and give them chances to make plays.”

“Defensively, we really emphasize pursuit to the ball and have worked hard on tackling technique,” Rawlings added. “We pride ourselves on limiting yards for the opposing teams, and if we can shut them out, that’s what we do.”

This week, Edgewood hosts the North Harford Hawks (Pylesville, MD) on Friday (9/30) for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Rams have won three consecutive contests over the Hawks.

Throughout this season, the Ravens will honor nine high school coaches who have made a significant impact on their student-athletes. Each Coach of the Week winner will receive a $2,000 donation to their school’s football program and will be invited to the Ravens-Falcons game (12/24) at M&T Bank Stadium for an opportunity to be named the Ravens High School Coach of the Year.

This initiative is just one piece of Ravens RISE, the team’s football outreach program presented by MedStar Sports Medicine. Ravens RISE impacts a range of area football players from youth to high school, providing them with a year-round opportunity to “Play Like A Raven” through clinics, tournaments, grants, ticket donations and exclusive opportunities to play at M&T Bank Stadium and interact with Ravens players and coaches.
