The Pittsburgh Steelers have named Brian Cooper of Laurel High School at the team’s Week 7 High School Coach of the Week.

Below is a snippet from the Pittsburgh Steelers website on the announcement:

In a showdown of the top teams in the Class A Big Seven Conference, Coach Cooper led the No. 4 Spartans to a big win over No. 3-ranked South Side by a score of 33-16. The victory clinched a playoff spot for Laurel and gives them sole possession of first place in the conference. The Spartans trailed 16-14 heading into the fourth quarter, but exploded with 19 points in the final quarter to earn the victory.

During each high school football season, the Pittsburgh Steelers select a High School Coach of the Week. This coach is selected by the Steelers as someone who has a big victory, a turnaround season, does extraordinary work in their community, and/or gives great effort to make a lasting positive impact in his student athletes. The Coach of the Week winners are invited to be honored at a Steelers home game and receive a framed certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Head Coach Mike Tomlin; a Steelers Coach of the Week cap and a $1,000 donation to their football program.
