On Saturday, the City of Oceanside celebrated the life of legendary high school football coach Herb Meyer, who passed away in April at the age of 87. The “Celebration of Life” was held in El Camino’s high school football stadium named after him.
Coach Herb Meyer will be remembered forever. His impact on El Camino, Oceanside, and all of SD will last an eternity. Thank you for being a great man and showing all of us how to be a Wildcat! We will miss you. pic.twitter.com/vLFaJQZTL7

Meyer, who is San Diego County’s all-time winningest football coach, served as the head coach at Oceanside for 17 years and then 28 years at El Camino. In those 45 years, he won 338 camps with 10 section championships.
Salute to Herb Meyer.
