There are 36 high school football teams from Texas in the 2023 Preseason High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Leading the way is defending 6A Division I champ Duncanville at No. 8. The Panthers play in the toughest district (District 11-6A) in the state. It’s also one of the best in the nation.

According to our preseason rankings, it’s the fifth toughest league in the nation.

Duncanville’s biggest competitor in the district is defending 6A Division II champ DeSoto, starting the season at No. 21 in our national rankings.

The district also includes Cedar Hill, Lake Ridge, Legacy, Mansfield, Skyline, Waxahachie. Both Cedar Hill and Waxahachie spent time last year in our Top 300.

Class 6A Division I runner-up North Shore is the second highest ranked Texas team in the rankings. The Mustangs are ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll that is created with our proprietary algorithm

North Shore begins life after head coach Jon Kay, who left earlier this year to take an assistant job at Rice. Taking over for Kay, who led the school to four state titles, is offensive coordinator Willie Gaston.

In all, 13 teams fall into the Top 100. You can set the Texas teams in bold.
