Georgia’s Buford High School is the No. 1 team in the High School Football America 100 Preseason Public High School football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Over the past 20 years, the Wolves have been one of the most powerful programs in the state of Georgia.
Overall, Buford has captured 14 state titles, with 13 of them coming since 2001. As the suburban Atlanta school has grown in size, the program has won the titles in six of the state seven classifications.
On the national scene, Buford begins the season ranked No. 7 in the HSFA 300 preseason national rankings. Last year, the Wolves reached No. 2 nationally before losing in the second round of the 7A state playoffs.

Texas has the most public schools in the Top 100, led by No. 2 Duncanville, the state’s reigning Class 6A Division I champs. Overall, there are 18 teams from the Lone Star State in the public rankings. That’s the most for any state.
Florida’s Miami Central was the top public school last year. This year, the Rockets begin the year ranked No. 3 in the public schools Top 100. There are 13 Florida teams in the HSFA 100 public schools rankings.
South Carolina’s Dutch Fork starts 2023 ranked No. 4 in the Top 100, followed by Thompson (Alabama) at No. 5, North Shore (Texas) at No. 6, Colquitt County (Georgia) at No. 7, DeSoto (Texas) at No. 8, Corona Centennial (California) at No. 9 and Langston Hughes (Georgia) at No. 10.
