When we release our preseason rankings, we always tell everyone that our proprietary algorithm is designed to analyze what happens on the field. Thursday night, in the first 2023 high school football game in America, Lone Peak, ranked No. 5 in our state poll and No. 174 nationally, picked-up an impressive 27-7 win over Utah No. 2 Bingham.
Lone Peak never trailed in the game that avenged Bingham’s win over the Knights in the 6A state quarterfinals last year. Thursday’s loss will improve LP’s national ranking when our first in-season national poll is released August 20. Bingham will fall from its preseason No. 117 ranking.
Senior quarterback Jackson Blake had a big night with three touchdown passes.
LP will try to keep thing rolling next Friday when it faces another ranked team in Timpview. The Thunderbirds are ranked No. 6 in the state in our preseason rankings and No. 192 nationally.
All of High School Football America’s rankings are powered by NFL Play Football.
