The No. 1 team in the Preseason High School Football America Florida Top 25, IMG Academy, is off to a 1-0 start, but this weekend marks the start of the 2023 regular season in the Sunshine State. IMG, which is not part of the Florida High School Athletic Association, beat two-time Tennessee champ Lipscomb Academy 35-10 last Friday in a game that was nationally-televised on FloFootball.
The Ascenders are currently ranked No. 5 in our national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. This week, they play No. 10 St. Joseph’s Prep, Pennsylvania’s defending 6A champ.

No. 2 St Thomas Aquinas will also have a tough interstate matchup. Saturday, the four-time defending champs will host Southern California’s St. John Bosco, the defending High School Football America national champ.
Since STA beat Bosco in 2017, SJB has won 16 straight games against out-of-state opponents. In the national rankings, Bosco is No. 2 and STA is No. 6. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
After a bye week this week, No. 3 Miami Central will travel to Las Vegas on September 1 to face Bishop Gorman, No. 3 in the HSFA 300 national rankings.
This weekend, No. 4 Miami Columbus will go head-to-head against fellow Top 25’er Clearwater Academy International, No. 15 in the preseason rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.
No. 5 Chaminade-Madonna and No. 6 American Heritage (Plantation) will play out-of-state opponents.
C-M will face Maryland’s St. Frances Academy on Saturday. The Lions are ranked No. 14 nationally, while SFA is No. 7. The game is part of the seven-game Broward County National Football Showcase that will feature ten teams ranked in the HSFA 300.
