Four teams in the 2023 Preseason High School Football America South Carolina Top 10 high school football rankings tasted defeat in Week 1.

Top-ranked Dutch Fork remains No. 1 after losing 48-17 to Georgia-power Colquitt County, which moves from No. 18 to No. 13 in the HSFA national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Silver Foxes fell from its preseason No. 11 ranking to No. 37 this week.

Preseason No. 2 Northwestern drops a notch after losing to North Carolina’s Providence Day, ranked No. 108 in the nation. The Trojans are ranked No. 130 in the HSFA 300 national rankings

Defending 4A champ South Florence moves from No. 3 to No. 2 after a 54-14 rout of Goose Creek.

Byrnes and South Pointe each move up two spots after quality victories.

South Pointe moves from No. 7 to No. 5 after edging Spartanburg 16-14. Spartanburg falls a spot to No. 7.

Byrnes is No. 6 this week after beating North Carolina-power Hough 24-9. The win moved the Rebels into our national rankings at No. 200. Hough entered the game ranked No. 130 in our preseason national Top 300.

Gaffney falls three spots to No. 8 after losing to North Carolina’s Crest High School.
