Four-time reigning Alabama 7A champ Thompson will test its metal Thursday when it faces national-power IMG Academy from Bradenton, Florida. The Warriors are currently ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 16 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. IMG is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation.

The top eight teams in our preseason statewide rankings hold their spots in the first in-season Top 10.

Last weekend, No. 2 Central (Phenix City) picked-up a intra-Top 10 win over No. 5 Hewitt-Trussville. and No. 3 Auburn beat No. 6 Hoover to open the season.

There are two new teams this week in the HSFA Alabama Top 10. Baker enters at No. 9 after beating preseason No. 9 Theodore 36-20 and Ramsey moves in at No. 10.
