2023 Indiana high school football playoff pairings announced

With the 2023 regular season coming to a close in the Hoosier State this weekend, the Indiana High School Athletic Association is releasing its playoff matchups across all six classifications. Every teams in the state eligible for the postseason.

The 51st annual IHSAA Football State Tournament, presented by the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, features 311 teams.

The tournament is is set to begin October 20 with first round games in Classes 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A. Classes 6A and 5A have that week off. Sectional semifinal games will be played on October 27, sectional
championship games on November 3, regionals on November 10, semi-states on November 17 and the state championship games on November 24-25.

The 12 teams earning a berth in the state finals will play on Thanksgiving weekend in Lucas Oil
Stadium, home of the Colts, the state tournament’s presenting sponsor since 2009.

Class 6A is led by Center Grove, the state’s three-time defending champ. The Trojans are No. 1 in our Indiana Top 10 and No. 22 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

In all, seven teams in our national rankings are in the 6A playoffs. The most interesting playoff matchups will be the first round game between Brownsburg and Ben Davis. The two are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 respectively in our statewide rankings. Nationally, Brownsburg is No. 50 in our national rankings. Ben Davis is No. 70 in the Top 300.
